“Why is Everyone a DJ?” - Laundry Day

Released April 19, 2024

This one has been highly anticipated and chances are you might already know it if you follow these guys on socials. The New York based band have quite the presence on TikTok and Instagram and videos of them singing a capella seem to go viral on the regular. They have a charming quality to them in that they can make fun of themselves but also put out music that is genuinely FUN. This track is no exception. The group has been around since B.C. (before Covid) and it’s exciting to see them gaining recognition online and in the live space. They recently jumped on Teezo Touchdown’s European tour and no doubt they will be making their way to a college near you soon.

“Champion” - Pom Poko

Released April 18, 2024

Okay, in all honesty Pom Poko could have literally put out a recording of different farts and it would have made it onto Ruckus House on Aux, for the simple fact it was released by them. We fucking love Pom Poko…and yes, we have asked multiple times when they will be coming out to play a show in LA…the jury is still out. The first single and title track of their upcoming album Champion is mellow and feels like the cool big sister to previous releases like “Cheater” and “Like a Lady.” While it may not be our favorite Pom Poko song of all time, we’re still listening to it and are more than excited to hear this upcoming album.

“Grass” - Will Paquin

Released April 16, 2024

The guy is good…Will Paquin, you’ve done it again. This song about grass is for everyone whether you like picnics, salvia, or whether you’re a dog, grass is for you! Jokes aside, this song is so pleasant and it sounds like signature Will Paquin with the gentle acoustic elements and creative sound design choices. We recommend giving this a listen in a park, an open field, or in the backyard. Go touch some grass!

“Rag” - Porches

Released April 9, 2024

Do you like Nirvana? What about e-boys? If you answered yes to either of these questions you might like this song. And if you answered yes to both of these questions, you’ll definitely like this song…and also maybe you should see a therapist. “Rag” is Porches first release since his 2021 album, All Day Gentle Hold! (we’re not counting that Harry Styles cover) and let me tell you it does not disappoint. This song sounds like grunk. How exciting! Each section is definitely a separate idea but so strong and strung together with intention and a solid “fuck you” attitude. Turn it up and lock yourself in your room like you’re a teenager again.

“How to Cry” - See You Next Year, AG Club, ICECOLDBISHOP

Released April 5, 2024

Have you ever taken shrooms and then realized that you have emotions again? Yeah, me neither. But Jody Fontaine definitely has and thus “How to Cry” was born. Recorded at Rick Rubin’s legendary Shangri-La studio, this track feels exactly like how it was made. Fontaine describes a four hour jam session in which the room was full of improvisation and expressiveness from artists including ICECOLDBISHOP and Fontaine’s own AG Club. As much as we love music from the future, we also love music in its truest form, made with passion and emotion uninhibited by the need to push boundaries and experiment. It’s refreshing to hear a simple song like this one, especially since it was crafted in such an authentic way. It serves as a reminder to breathe and experience life before working toward whatever dream or goal you may have.

“Que’ Onda Guero” - Beck

Released March 29, 2005

With all the new releases this week, we also have to take a minute to love on an oldie but a goodie. The weather in LA this weekend is perfect for playing this song, windows rolled down on the way to the dayger. I grew up hearing this on the boombox, while my dad was cooking on the bbq and I was jumping off the swingset in the backyard. It’s one of those songs that never gets old and I was recently reminded of how fucking cool it is when I heard it playing in Tom Bergin’s this week. The sun’s out people! Add this to your summer bbq playlist and crack open a cerveza, puto!
