“ur a bundle of joy !” - Niko B

Released May 24, 2024

This week brings us an exciting new release from English rapper Niko B! His latest album dog eat dog food world dropped on Friday and boy oh boy have we been waiting in anticipation! Our introduction to Niko B was fairly recent, dating back to this album’s first single “trespass coat” which dropped back in March of this year. There’s something refreshing about this guy. The music is groovy, lyrics are clever, and he’s quirky enough that he’s charming and not weird. Give this a listen and expect to be humming it everywhere you go.

“Joker” - Porches

Released May 14, 2024

If this song were a movie genre, it’d be in the vein of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Moulin Rouge, and Spun. I’m drawn to very surrealist chaotic art and something tells me this upcoming album Shirt is sure to deliver just that. Porches is beautifully twisted and grungy. If his two latest singles are any indication of the 12-track album’s direction, he’s heading up and up!

“HYPER DAI” - Daiela

Released April 19, 2024

First, let me just say I am a whore for a break beat okay. I found Daiela through Instagram reels (no, I am not a millennial) and this song in particular piqued my interest. Seeing a young female artist produce her own music and playing drums is hard! “HYPER DAI” is a fusion of neo-soul, jazz, and hyperpop that embodies Daiela’s versatility, creativity, and pure talent. The LA native is currently a rising junior at Brown University, collaborating with some Berklee cats to form the R&B/indie band HALFnHALF. This song is a gem and we’re certainly excited to see what’s sure to be a bright future for this young artist.

“Blue” - Bee Blackwell

Released December 7, 2023

Bee Blackwell, you little indie darling, you! This girl is like a seed in soil - give her some time in the sun and she will grow. We must tread lightly here though. This artist has the potential to make some real nice homespun indie music, some Pinegrove lookin ass indie music. However, there is also the potential to see some overproduced, derivative junk come out of this self-proclaimed 90s alternative rock artist (she really might have been born post-9/11). And this song borders on that fine indie line. For now, we’ll pretend everything is in white & black or desaturated turquoise, and we’ll be spinning this song.

“• - • • • – • • - – • —” - • • –– • • – • • •  • –– • •

Released August 6, 2021

•– • – • - • • - – - • nah, I’m just playing lmao. I certainly don’t know morse code and I don’t even think I typed the artist song or name out right. My research (reddit dive) suggests this album Erased Tapes 20 • • - - -0 is a compilation album from the titular London-based indie label’s various artists. Founded by musician Robert Raths aka ghostworker, the contemporary classical, avant-garde, ambient record label is unlike any other indie label I’ve come across. The mystique is intriguing in the same way movies like Eyes Wide Shut and Under the Silver Lake are intriguing. Not saying it’s a cult but if it were, we’d love to know more. For now we’ll let this song lull us into a false sense of security.
